Equity Matters is embarking on a new MELAA (Middle Eastern, Latin American and African*) project for 2022: Engagement, Empowerment and Development!

March 7, 2022

First step: to collect your opinions in our confidential online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MP5FTY8. We've extended the deadline to 11.59pm Thursday 12th May to collect as many opinions as possible!

We are embarking on a new MELAA (Middle Eastern, Latin American and African*) project for 2022: Engagement, Empowerment and Development. This project follows on from our 2021 project, also funded by the Ministry for Ethnic Communities: Challenges faced by MELAA ethnic groups in New Zealand civic society. Please note that it is FREE to participate in this project.

* Includes also African diaspora from America, Caribbean and UK, for example).

The key aim of this project is to raise the awareness of the MELAA communities and their positive contribution to Aotearoa New Zealand, with the following objectives:

1. To provide support on how to grow MELAA community networks and organizations

2. To enable more effective engagement with other MELAA groups

3. To enable participants to activate more effectively on behalf of their MELAA community

4. To showcase, engage and promote the skills, diversity and attributes of the MELAA communities.

To begin, we are conducting this survey to find out your opinions. Following the survey, we will be hosting a series of free online professional development sessions for community leaders/practitioners. Another key output from this project will be the development and production of a MELAA Community Showcase Publication.

Please complete this survey by 11.59pm on Thursday 12th May. The information that you provide in this confidential questionnaire will be anonymised and Equity Matters will use this information to inform the personal professional development webinars. The analysed responses will also be shared with the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, helping us to communicate the key priorities and feelings for MELAA communities.
